Acronym : MSE-P-BS0061 The course examines several key areas of company financial decision-making and its interrelation with a firm's strategy using a combination of case studies and taught material. The course covers areas such as capital budgeting, economic value added (EVA), and international investment as well as considering the contribution of financial methodologies to developing and enhancing corporate strategy. Upon completing this course students should:
-Recognise the contribution financial appraisal methods can make to developing a firm's strategy -Understand the difficulties involved in maximising shareholder value due to managerialism -Recognise the problems in applying investment appraisal techniques in practice -Be aware of the problem of risk in evaluating project -Understand the principles behind real options in corporate finance -Know how financial tools can be applied to develop sustainable competitive advantage -Be aware of the difficulties in foreign direct investment and appraising international Assessment Information
