Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able to:-
- demonstrate detailed knowledge of the primary set texts in all forms of assessment; - show, in all forms of assessment, understanding of important modern interpretative strategies; - compare, contrast, and evaluate competing interpretations; - apply, at a level appropriate to the assignment, one's knowledge of modern secondary literature to the interpretation of the primary texts; - demonstrate research, interpretative, and argumentative skills in coursework essays; - present the results of one's investigations in seminars and to contribute effectively to discussion; - demonstrate close familiarity with the interpretative issues raised by the primary texts in examination essays and comment questions. Coursework - 30%;
one (2-hour) degree examination - 70%. Exam times
