Primary Education Placement 3 (School) (ED0997)

This two part placement, fice weeks in the lower school and five weeks in the upper, is designed to build on, use and extend experiences, learning outcomes and understandings developed on previous experiences. It is intended to be coherent and progressively demanding, maintainig a pattern of growth in all areas.

Entry Requirements

? This course is not available to visting students.

? Pre-requisites : Successful completion of First and Second Years of the BEd (Primary Education) degree programme.

? Delivery Period : Semester 1 (Blocks 1-2)

? Other Required Attendance : 35 hour(s) per week for 10 weeks

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Placement 3 aims to develop understanding and professional competence in relation to:-

- Planning, undertaking and assessing an appropriate curriculum for a class over an extended period

- applying the principle of curriculum differentiation to meet the needs of individual learners

- Examining and discussing with school colleagues the schools' policies with regards to the promotion of pupils' physical, emotional and social well being.

Assessment Information

At the end of each part of the placement the School teacher should complete a final assessment profile allocating a grade pass / fail to each main category. Each profile should include appropriate comments. In order to pass the placement the student has to receive a pass grade from both the school and University for each of the six sub-categories on the profile.
