Developmental Phonology (P00252)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : PPL-P-DEVPHOLIN The aim of this course is to give an introduction to current research on developmental phonology. The course reviews key issues, concepts and findings in the development of speech, phonetics and phonological competence in first and second language acquisition. The course also introduces aspects of phonetic/phonological theories necessary to understand the relevant literature in phonological acquisition. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course students should be able to understand current issues in the research on phonological development, including:
- speech development in early childhood - models of phonological development in L1 and L2 acquisition - phonological transfer in L2 Students should also be able to analyse learner data using the concepts and models introduced in the course. Assessment Information
