Advanced Topics in Phonetics: Speech Production (P00288)

This course discusses theories and supporting evidence for 1) mental representations of speech sounds 2) how articulations are controlled and 3) the relationship between articulations and acoustics.

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : Introduction to Phonology & Phonetics (or equivalent)

? Prohibited combinations : Students may not have taken this course as a University of Edinburgh undergraduate.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Experimental techniques for answering theoretical questions, critical evaluation of published research papers, knowledge of current theories of speech production and supporting evidence.
