Dissertation (MSc in Speech and Language Processing) (P00474)

A dissertation of 15,000-20,000 words on a topic in Speech and Language Processing approved by the Programme Director. The dissertation will normally report on empirical work carried out (e.g. experiments or modelling), but (with the Programme Director's permission) may be a critical survey of existing literature in the field.

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : In order to continue to writing the dissertation for the MSc, students must normally achieve an overall pass mark of 50% in the taught component.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Skills in managing a relatively long-term project. In-depth knowledge of a particular chosen subfield of Speech and Language Processing. Critical judgement in evaluating existing literature. Imagination in discerning relevant, possibly new, research questions. Discipline in argumentation.

Assessment Information

This is a single piece of work, worth 60 credits.
