Acronym : HCL-P-P00488 An introduction to the Latin language for complete beginners and those with limited recent experience of the language. In classes shared with the undergraduate course CL0006 (Latin 1 - section A) a thorough grounding is provided in the essentials of Latin accidence (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs) and in the syntax of the simple sentence. From week 4 post-graduates also have a weekly class to read selected texts, classical and/or medieval as appropriate. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should:-
- have mastered the accidence of the Latin language; - have an understanding of the basics of Latin syntax (simple sentences); - be able to translate straightforward Latin sentences with the help of a dictionary. Assessment Information
