* Describe the problems faced in data integration, as well as model solutions to these problems.
* Describe the need for provenance and annotation in contemporary database technology.
* Translate between data models given examples.
* Demonstrate the issues involved in data publishing for distributed query processing.
* Demonstrate the problems of view maintenance and the partial solutions that have been developed.
* Demonstrate their knowledge of distributed query processing in specific database areas such as data stream management and peer-to-peer database systems.
* Describe the issues involved in distributed query optimisation regarding cost modeling and algorithms for query evaluation.
