Introduction to Research Methods and Ethics (P00934)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MED-P-P00934 The course will introduce and explore some of the key quantitative and qualitative tools for conducting research in the Public Health area. In addition, it will introduce students to the epistemological foundations of research in the field of Public Health and will look at the ethical requirements for undertaking public health research. The areas to be considered will include empiricist, positivist and social constructionist philosophies of science, issues of ethics and governance, basic concepts in statistics, qualitative research methodology and the critical appraisal of existing research literature.
