Acronym : VET-P-P00970 In this module attention will be given to the basis and application of current day ethical approaches/thinking relating to animal welfare. The development of UK/EU animal welfare legislation will be put in a global context. Animal welfare will be discussed from an economics perspective and in the context of global trade issues. The development of approaches for the monitoring and assessment of animal welfare under practical or commercial conditions will also be discussed. 1. Understand the basis and application of current day ethical approaches/thinking relating to anmal welfare.
2. Understand the development of UK/EU animal welfare legislation and to put this in a global context. 3. Understand animal welfare from an economic perspective including current economic drivers affecting animal welfare. 4. Understand animal welfare in the context of global trade issues including the role of the World Trade Organisation agreeements on trade liberalisation. 5. Understand development of approaches for the monitoring and assessment of animal welfare under practical or commercial conditions. Assessment Information
