Fundamentals of Renewable Energy Engineering 5 (P01306)

The course will introduce the students to the fundamentals of renewable energy engineering concentrating on wind, wave, tidal, and solar energy. The renewable resource will be characterised in engineering terms together with principles of utilising it for electrical energy generation. In doing so, basic mechanical engineering concepts will be reviewed and applied to the renewable energy engineering. Problems of grid integration of renewables will be also discussed.

Revision of mechanical engineering concepts necessary to understand the renewable energy resource and its conversion to electrical form.
Understanding of main characteristics of different forms of renewable energy.
Understanding of main problems of grid integration of renewables.
