Construction Management 3 (U00315)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 9 ? Acronym : EEL-3-CVCMA In this course, students develop an understanding of the procedures and the impact of the construction stage of the Civil Engineering Process. The course is structured to introduce and expose the students to modern construction practice, the management and impact of waste from construction and other activities and to hazards and risks to the environment from construction and other activities. The students are introduced to the methods in which construction projects are undertaken and the ways in which they are planned and managed, taking into account environmental, safety and quality issues. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, the student should be able to:
- understand and plan for common construction processes; - understand the variety of resources used in these processes; - plan for construction projects in terms of the activities and resources used; - appreciate the mechanisms of managing the different types of personnel on construction projects; - plan and cost a long term solid waste management system; and - apply the HAZOP and HAZAN methods of risk analysis to civil engineering work.
