Clinical Neuropsychology (U00591)

Drawing on previous years knowledge of brain -neuroanatomy and cognitive function, this series of lectures will examine the role of the neuropsychologist in a hospital setting. In particular, the prospects for rehabilitation of brain damaged patients will be examined and there will be an additional morning workshop which will give you practical experience of the problems

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- Students will be familiar with the problems experienced by patients recovering from brain damage.
- Awareness of any differences in recovery as a function of age at the time of injury onset.
- Familiarity with at least two well known case studies drawn from the clinical and psychological literature.
- Awareness of the effectiveness of at least three kinds of rehabilitation interventions.
