Social Judgement and Decision Making (VS1) (U02425)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-4-SJDM-PS Aims and objectives: This option examines judgment and decision making as it relates to particularly social issues. It begins with the Lecturer providing an overview of the basic issues in judgment and decision making. The option then makes use of a seminar format. In particular, students - working in teams - will be responsible for leading a discussion about some of the most interesting and often controversial issues in social judgment and decision making, including biased perception, evolutionary vs. socio-cultural pressures, selection of criteria for measuring rationality, definitions of accuracy, etc. Entry Requirements? This course is only available to part year visiting students. ? This course is a variant of the following course : U02139 ? Pre-requisites : Normally Psychology Methodology 1 (U00651) or equivalent. By the end, the students should possess an
understanding of the major theoretical issues in the field of judgment and decision making, knowledge of how these issues can be applied to the study of social psychology, and an improved ability to critically assess empirical evidence. Assessment Information
