This course comprises the physical principles underlying solids handling and processing equipment are introduced, along with characterisation of properties of particulate materials.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- understand particle size distributions and calculate mean particle diameters from particle size distribution data
- describe and explain the operation of the solids processing equipment covered in the course
- apply the physical principles underlying the behaviour of particulate materials to equipment and processes not explicitly described in this course
