This course gives an introduction to the analysis and discussion of musical form and style. It will involve the detailed study of scores and the aural analysis of sound recordings.

? Pre-requisites : Only available to students on a Music degree programme.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- Students will understand the basics of musical form and structure
- They will be able to read musical scores and gain information from them
- They will understand how to contextualise such information
- They will develop a pratice of discussing music in detail

Assessment Information

One class exam (25%) and one essay c.3,000 words (75%).
