Student Selected Component 3 (U02912)

Students will observe and learn from other health and social care professionals, and find out how others contribute to individual and community health. After choosing a topic of interest, each student will study this field over an extended period of time. The SSC will support the core curriculum and also give students more control over their own learning. The aim is to motivate students to organise their own learning opportunities, develop critical observation and appreciate the diversity of medical care.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The SSC will increase students' understanding of wider aspects of medical care. These can include multi disciplinary team working, or individuals' roles, expertise and value in patient care or public health provision. The student will be able to observe, analyse, and record the dynamics and relationships of health workers with patients and other professionals.

Assessment Information

At the end of the project, each student will present a report to a small group. Feedback comments will be provided.
