Final Assessment
One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
1. French 4 Honours Language Paper 1
2. French 4 Honours Language Paper 1
3. French 4 Honours Language Paper 2
4. French Oral
5. Year Abroad Work (Socrates Marks or Long Essay)
6. Year Abroad Work (Socrates Marks or Long Essay)
7. Dissertation Preparation (same mark as 8)
8. Dissertation Completion
9. Honours option course in French
10. Honours option course in French
11. Honours option course in French
12. Honours option course in French
* a pass in at least one modern forign or classical language on the Higher Grade (SCE) or evidence of linguistic proficiency.
** No previous knowledge of Portuguese is necessary: a pass in a modern foreign language or a classical language at SCE Higher grade or equivalent evidence of linguistic proficiency is normally required
† French Higher Grade (SCE) or equivalent. Entrants with SCE qualifications should hold at least a "B" pass.
‡ Must be the second level of one of the courses taken in first year
†† Entry into Honours normally requires (i) passes in all six subjects taken in the first two years, and (ii) a mark of 50% or above in the second year of the relevant Modern European Language.
