Course description |
This course seeks to provide an introduction, from an essentially theoretical perspective, to those social, cultural, technical and environmental contexts for the design of buildings and the development of human settlements. It provides the foundation for an integrated understanding of the principles and practice of architecture. Technology & Environment 1B specifically provides an introduction to the design of Architectural Structures and Environmental Systems.

Course Delivery Information
Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
An awareness of the disciplines of architectural technology and their relationship with architecture.
Acquisition of a knowledge of the fundamental principles by which structures and environmental systems can be understood with specific reference to human well-being, the welfare of future generations, the natural world, process of assembly and structural principles.
Acquisition of a knowledge and understanding of the types of structures and environmental systems which are currently employed in architecture.
An awareness of the methods by which structures and responsive environmental systems are designed.
Development of the ability to integrate technology issues into the architectural design process |
Assessment Information
1 degree examination, duration 2 hours
comprising 75% of total mark.
