Indicative Module Content
This module sets the planning process required for an architectural project in the context of the Scottish statutory planning system, and that in the context of issues of sustainable development, development economics, and the quintessential elements of planning, namely survey, analysis, plan, implement, monitor and review.
Aims of Module
1. To provide a basic understanding of the planning process.
2. To provide a general awareness of the issues of planning law, development control and the development process which influence the process of the delivery of a design.

Lectures, tutorial/seminars, visits and projects.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, the student is expected to be able to:
1. show an understanding of the basic features and requirements of planning, planning law and development control, as they relate to the architectural process: make a Planning Application
2. display knowledge of the social and economic context of the planning process, including development economics, the value of team working, and one?s own place within these groupings
3. demonstrate an ability to manage and appraise and communicate one?s own working practices, whether working independently or collaboratively.
