Course description |
This module is undertaken by students who are on Placement. It gives an opportunity to study a contemporary building either through documents available in practice, or by study in the architectural press/and a building visit. The module is offered via WebCT/student portal distance learning. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The module AIMS to: 1. Offer opportunities to examine the integration of the following six criteria in either a published public building or a building designed by the student&©s Placement office: Structure; Construction; Services; Lighting and Acoustics; Building Regulations, Health, Safety and Inclusive.
On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to demonstrate:
1. Understanding of the integration of the above criteria in a coherent architectural design;
2. Research skills in the context of architectural practice;
3. Ability to use visual and written communication methods and appropriate media to clearly and effectively convey and critically appraise design ideas and proposals. |

Learning outcomes are assess by essay coursework (100%) |
Special Arrangements
This course is taught jointly with Edinburgh College of Art. Students will have access to both campuses and may be located in studios at either institution.
