Course description |
This core module, taken in the second semester of MArch2, requires students to curate the outcomes of academic work undertaken during the programme and present it in the form of an integrated academic portfolio that demonstrates compliance with the ARB Part 2 criteria. Various forms of presentation (drawings, installations, printed books/reports, models, photographs, films, digital material, etc) and any other evidence of work, which has been assessed as part of the programme leading to an award of Part 2, will be represented in the portfolio. The assembly of the portfolio is often given inadequate attention by students of architecture: by thematising it, this module establishes it as a design issue in its own right. Emphasis is placed upon the eloquence of the total
presentation, as well as upon the appropriateness of
the use of specific representational forms and the skill
demonstrated in their deployment. The portfolio is
submitted in electronic format, in accordance with a
template as specified in the module brief issued to
students.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, the student is expected to demonstrate:
1. The ability to produce a coherent, well designed and integrated architectural design portfolio that documents and communicates architectural knowledge, skills and
abilities, and that synthesizes and presents work produced in diverse media (sketch books, written work,
computer work, drawings and models, etc).
2. An understanding of the relation of the ARB Part 2 criteria to the student=s own work, as demonstrated
through a referencing system, covering the totality of the criteria, in the portfolio.
3. The acquisition and development of transferable skills to present work for scrutiny by peers, potential
employers, and other public groups through structuring and
communicating ideas effectively using diverse media. |
Assessment Information
This module MUST BE PASSED for a student to be awarded the MArch degree. Learning outcomes are assessed 100% by folio coursework. Assessment is made with reference to the ARB Part 2 criteria, required to be demonstrated in the module (see below). This course is assessed under ECA Regulations.
