		| Course description |
To read the 'Hebrew' Bible one must know Aramaic. To understand Jesus the Jew one must have knowledge of the language in which he spoke. This course will teach students the rudiments of the Aramaic language by a study of its vocalbulary and grammar. The textbook by Frederick E. Greenspahn, An Introduction to Aramaic, will be used for the course and students will follow each lesson, memorize vocabulary and paradigms, and do the exercises (including translations from English into Aramaic) and prepare the graded reading passages. Bi-weekly quizzes will be used to assess student progress. |
