Course description |
The course provides an overview of the development of Gaelic poetry from a tradition-bound medium of expression to the proliferation of different modern genres that characterises the subject today. The poetry under discussion takes in the work of a range of poets whose contribution to the corpus is both distinctive in itself and illustrative of the themes and concerns that are present at various stages of the century. Both famous and lesser-known poets are represented in the selection from the available corpus, and the work of native speakers is considered along that of learners of Gaelic. The course is taught through the medium of Gaelic.
