Course description This course extends the hydrology of the 2nd year Water Resources course (U00470) into flood studies and urban drainage and covers the practical considerations to be made resulting from the demand for water from community development by considering water consumption, water sources, water quality, water treatment, wastewater treatment and disposal.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module, the student should be able to:
- calculate expected river flood flows for chosen return periods;
design storm water pipe drainage systems;
- carry out process design for settling and softening in water treatment;
- describe common water treatment processes; and
- describe typical sewage treatment processes.
