Course description Applications of Econometrics (AofE) extends the coverage of econometric techniques developed in Essentials of Econometrics and illustrates techniques with applications in a variety of economic contexts. Techniques covered are likely to include nonlinear regression, panel data and instrumental variable estimation. Applications are likely to include production functions, individual behaviour over time and natural experiments. Students will be expected to carry out their own modelling and estimation, developing skills frequently expected of contemporary economics graduates in a wide variety of contexts. As this topic lies at the heart of the intersection between the disciplines of informatics and economics, it is perfectly suited for the specialism.
