Course description |
An examination of selected Key Features from physical, biological and earth sciences, the 5 - 14 Technology curriculum, Health Education, and the social subjects in the European and a contrasting world context; planning sequences of lessons using a variety of modes of teaching and including related assessment criteria; use of ICT to provide activities appropriate for developing of children's learning and as a medium for organising and presenting work; illustration of how learning in Environmental studies can both enhance and be enhanced by learning in other curricular areas. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and practical skills in the area of the curriculum to be taught, referring this to national guidelines as appropriate.
- Know how to match the level of curriculum to the needs of pupils.
- Know how to use and adapt materials for learning and teaching to stimulate and challenge pupils.
- Demonstrate that their planning and work with pupils is based on a secure knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of literacy and numeracy in children.
- Know how to plan for effective learning in the areas of the curriculum to be taught, or themes to be studied.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the main theories of learning and draw upon these in thinking about and planning their own teaching and pupils' learning.
- Demonstrate that they can select strategies for teaching and learning appropriate to the subject, topic and pupils' needs.
- Demonstrate that they have high but realistic expectations of pupils and match tasks and the rates of work to the needs of all pupils.
- Know how to make use of the environment and resources outside the school to support teaching and pupils' learning. |
