Course description |
The focus of this course will be a technological design task. The idea that form follows function will be discussed, as will the concept of a total design specification. The role of resistant and non-resistant materials in the realisation of the design concept will be investigated, as will the process by which innovative ideas can be developed into mass produced items. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
i. Decode a project brief to elicit that what is required by the 'customer'.
ii. Conduct a 'search', internally (the mind) and externally (library or www) to obtain relevant information.
iii. Select use and justify divergent thinking techniques to create ideas for consideration.
iv. Select use and justify convergent thinking techniques to decide upon ideas for development.
v. Manufacture a model to satisfy the initial design proposal. |
