Course description This module offers teachers the opportunity to investigate and evaluate the impact of contemporary developments in PE and its related fields and consider how these developments have influenced, or are likely to influence, practice in their schools. This is particularly pertinent as developments within PE, youth sport and young people's health-related physical activity have been substantial in recent years, particularly with the introduction of the national physical activity strategy and review of PE.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
-Undertake discussion and critical reflection to evaluate contrasting views of contemporary issues in PE and its related field
-Reach informed conclusions about contemporary discourses in
-Organise an analytical critique of the research evidence and professional literature in one of the contemporary PE issues covered in the module.
-On the basis of this critique, and in discussion with school colleagues, plan, implement and critically evaluate a pilot programme that seeks to address issues stemming from the chosen topic.
Assessment Information
Students will undertake a critical review of the research and professional literature in one of the contemporary issues covered in the module. On the basis of this review, and in discussion with school colleagues, students will then plan, implement and critically evaluate a pilot programme that seeks to address the main issue raised.
