Course description |
This course looks at the political and social history of Fascist Italy, one of the most fascinating and turbulent periods of modern Italian history which has given rise to a rich, interesting and often highly politicised historiography.
The course concentrates in particular on:
- the causes of the rise of fascism;
- social change during the period of the regime;
- political mobilisation, the quest for consensus and the limits to consensus;
- government policy in a number of areas including labour relations, the church, foreign affairs, gender, race and demography |
