Course description |
This course focuses on the history of Italian women since the birth of the new Italian state in 1860. Starting with the Civil Code of 1865 it covers a range of political, social and economic themes. Topics include ideology about gender roles, family law and legal reform, gender roles within families and the household, demographic change and sexuality, motherhood, employment and female roles in political movements and parties. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should have increased their knowledge of the history of Italian women since 1860. They should also have improved their presentational, analytical, research and writing skills through seminar work and essays. |
