Course description |
The aim of this course is to familiarise students with genetic, molecular genetic and bioinformatic approaches that are commonly used to study genes, their expression and their functions, and how transgenic organisms can be produced. The focus will be on the most frequently used model organisms, plants, Escherichia coli, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and mouse, and will include classical as well very recent technological developments. The final section will discuss the need for computational methods to store, access and analyse genomic and functional genomic data. |
