Course description |
Arabic 1b is designed to compliment the Arabic 1a elementary course in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). It is worth 20 credits and runs in Semester 2 only. Successful completion of Arabic 1a is an essential requirement for entry to the course. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course is designed to build upon Arabic 1a, expanding students' knowledge of Arabic grammar and increasing their vocabulary. At the end of the course students will be equipped with the key tools to understand, speak, read and write elementary Modern Standard Arabic. The course provides essential grounding for the second year Arabic course and subsequent study to Arabic Honours Degree level. |
Assessment Information
Class work - 10% (regular written exercises and tests)
Examinations- 90% (80% of this examination mark is awarded for the written paper, and 20% for the oral) |
