Course description |
A critical introduction to the legal system of Scotland and to the study of law more generally in its historical, philosophical and social context. Its coverage includes legal theory, legal reasoning, the judicial process, law and justice, the sources of law, legal history, the administration of justice, jurisdiction and procedure. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To impart basic information about the legal system of Scotland; to help students develop basic legal skills; and to encourage students to think critically about the law. |
Assessment Information
Coursework [10%], 2nd semester examination [90%] for both diets.
There is no second sitting of the assessed essay (10%). The mark awarded is carried forward for the August Resit exam. |
