Course description |
Core second year course for Honours Degrees including Statistics.
Syllabus summary: Descriptive statistics; scatter diagrams, correlation; sample means and variances. Statistical concepts, sampling distributions. Expectation and variance of common distributions and statistics. Introduction to estimation and hypothesis testing. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. Knowledge of common descriptive statistical procedures, and how they can be implemented in a statistical package.
2. Understanding of randomness and, in particular, sampling distributions.
3. Ability to conduct simple inferential procedures and to exercise diagnostic and interpretative skills.
