Discrete probability, continuous probability, Markov chains, birth-and-death processes. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss and apply methods of discrete probability such as conditional probability and joint distributions.
2. Discuss the basic notions of continuous probability and apply them to simple situations.
3. Describe Markov chains and their use in some applications.
4. Discuss and apply the use of probability in other areas such as queues.

Assessment Information
Coursework: 15%; Degree Examination: 85%; at least 40% must be achieved in each component. |
