Course description |
This elective course will study the cellular response to virus infection and how the virus overcomes and modifies these responses to facilitation replication and/or persistence. Topics covered will include:
? Cellular mechanisms for detecting virus infection
? Apoptosis initiation and inhibition in virus infected cells
? Interferon response
? Persistence of viruses within the cells
? Latency
? Modification of host cell function
? Anti-viral agents
? Overview of cell transformation by viruses
