Introduction to several theories of counselling: person-centred, cognitive, psychoanalytical. Introduction to counselling skills approaches, Egan, Heron. Application of theory to practice within the health care setting to explore issues that arise out of practice. |

| To gain an understanding of the range of theoretical approaches to counselling; to familiarise the student with counselling skills; to explore the relationship of context, health status and counselling. |
