Course description The Honours Dissertation takes the form of an extended piece of work which can either be a research proposal or a critical assessment of an area of nursing practice. Consistent with the aims of a research led degree, the honours dissertation seeks to demonstrate the ability of the students to independently present a research proposal or a critical assessment of an area of nursing practice with the appropriate level of critical appraisal and knowledge of research and enquiry in the discipline of nursing.
Entry Requirements
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Nursing 1 (NUST08001) AND Health and Society 1A (NUST08002) AND Health and Society 1B (NUST08003) AND Nursing 2 (NUST08006) AND Health and Society 2A (NUST08004) AND Research and Inquiry in Nursing (NUST10007) AND Pathology and Patient Care (NUST10013) AND The Nature of Nursing (NUST10012) AND Applied Clinical Biology (NUST10026)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate general and specific subject related knowledge, skills, and understanding of the art and science of nursing.

Demonstrate the ability to prepare a clearly structured research proposal or critical assessment of nursing practice.

Demonstrate the ability to review critically the relevant literature and research in the chosen area of nursing.

?Demonstrate the ability to address practice issues through research or application of research to practice.

?Demonstrate awareness of ethical issues that may arise in the course of their studies of nursing practice/issues.

?Discuss critically the potential implications for nursing practice, and the advancement of nursing knowledge.
