This course covers the theoretical and philosophical background to current practice and interpretation in archaeology, focussing mainly on developments in the late 19th - 20th century. It explores the diversity of approaches within the natural and social sciences as well as humanities which, at vaious stages, contributed to theoretical and methodological debates in archaeology. |
