		| Course description |
This course aims to examine the History of Scotland and Ireland in the period from 1800 to 1939 in both a comparative and an interactive sense. The main themes of the course will be: the comparative social and economic development of Scotland and Ireland; emigration and the growth of an Irish community in Scotland; the growth of nationalism and the relationship between Scotland, Ireland and "Britain"; It is not intended that the course should provide a comprehensive survey of Scottish and Irish history in the nineteenth century. |
