Course description |
This course offers an introduction to the key themes and approaches in the study of the Hellenistic world. Students will become acquainted with the evidence (epigraphy, papyri, literature, archaeology) and the problems of interpretation. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge of some important themes in Hellenistic scholarship;
- some understanding of the methodologies and approaches appropriate to the study of the Hellenistic world;
- some knowledge of the development and character of the Greek East;
- ability to use a range of evidence (inscriptions, papyri, literature, archaeology) critically;
- bibliographical research skills.

- written and oral communication skills;
- analytical skills;
- ability to deal independently with a complex body of information;
- ability to produce a concise summary.
