Course description |
The course is intended to provide a through overview of the assumptions, applications, limitations and interpretations of a wide range of multivariate techniques, allowing students to know what is available and of potential value to their research, rather than necessarily equipping students with the skills to be able to apply it without further learning. However, hands-on work with survey data, using SPSS in the computer workshop, will accompany two of the foundational techniques, to provide skills in applying the theoretical knowledge from the lecturers. The aim is provide an overview and understanding of some of the more commonly used advanced multivariate techniques for social scientific research.
