Course description |
This course aims to introduce students to some key themes in ancient philosophy as discussed by the major thinkers and schools of ancient philosophy. Typical themes are likely to include the theories of reality, cognition, virtue, and cosmology, whilst the philosophical movements to be covered are likely to include the Presocratics, Plato, Aristotle and the Hellenistic philosophers.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course aims to both develop students' philosophical skills and their understanding of key developments in ancient philosophy. The teaching is seminar based, and each week students will have to prepare by reading set work.
