Course description |
This core course will familiarize students with key theoretical approaches to politics and international relations. Several different analytical perspectives - rational choice theory, institutionalism and social constructionism as well as Marxism, feminism and postcolonialism - will be introduced and applied to contemporary, real world problems. |

Visiting students should have at least 3 Politics/International Relations courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
In taking this course, students will acquire and develop:
. an understanding of key theoretical approaches to the study of politics and international relations;
. a critical appreciation of theoretical positions held by other scholars;
. an ability to use and manipulate different kinds of theory in their own work.
