Course description This course is split into two sections. Brain Imaging in Neuropsychology A introduces the student to range of brain imaging techniques in addition to the fundamentals of clinical neurology. Brain Imaging in Neuropsychology B looks at the application of techniques to cognitive neuropsychology.

This course aims to introduce the student to a range of brain imaging techniques in addition to the fundamentals of clinical neurology and application to cognitive neuropsychology. Brain imaging techniques include a range of methods from functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography to evoked response potentials. The course provides extensive teaching on functional imaging from methods to clinical application, focusing on designing efficient experiments, data analysis, functional / effective connectivity and application to the understanding of language, memory and frontal lobe functions. The course will also focus on understanding the limitations of imaging methods such as fMRI in the study of neuropsychology. Teaching is provided by both members of the HCN team as well as invited eminent specialists within the field.

In addition to the above teaching this course will include learning through an interactive e-learning package on Brain Imaging. Students are expected to go through these e-learning tutorials throughout the course in their own time.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of:
- a range of imaging methods including both functional and structural neuroimaging
- the application of such imaging methods to the investigation cognitive models (memory, executive functions, language)
- students will understand the uses and limitations of imaging methods in the study of neuropsychology
