Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- determine how a statically determinate beam carries load (using diagrams of bending moment and shear force), and evaluate the resulting deflection of the beam;
- analyse structural cross sections, so as to determine stress distributions resulting from axial, bending and torsional actions.
