Course description |
This course explores the theme of the three-dimensional or physical manifestations of Scotland's traditional culture systems through a series of thematic case studies. Emphasis is placed upon the examination of material culture change and development in order to shed light on such themes as status, ethnicity and identity rather than simply determining the forms and function of Scotland's material culture. Weekly tutorials will concentrate on the discussion of readings relating to theory and methodology. Local archive and museum visits will be arranged early in the course. |
