Course description |
This course introduces some of the key ideas of the discipline by examining the relationship between 'individuals' and 'societies'. Among the topics will be the social nature of the self, the influence of groups, gender identities, nationalism and the city. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- understand certain key sociological concepts, particularly those which link 'individuals' to 'society, and will have developed an introductory understanding of the relationship between sociological argument and evidence. |

One 1500 word essay (40%), one two-hour exam (60%). |
