Course description |
The course will introduce two liberation theologies. Reference will also be made to Black Theology of Liberation. Attention will focus on the rise of critical consciousness with respect to gender and class (and to a lesser extent race). There will be an analysis of the strengths and limitations of liberation theologies and questions will be raised concerning their future paths. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be aware of the nature and manifestations of ideologies of gender, class and race and be capable of assessing movements countering these ideologies, to determine their status as ideologies. |
Assessment Information
A two-hour degree examination (60%);
one 2000 word essay (30%);
seminar presentation (10%). |
